Elite poker play was displayed at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa the last weekend, as the 2007 Borgata Winter Poker Open continued as the 18 remaining players took their seats to resume play in the $1,500 buy-in event in Saturday.
Despite that the field of players comprised several pros and past winners of the Borgata Poker Open, it was Leonard Cortellino of Lewiston, ME, who survived the tough field and took home $200,860 in first place prize money.
At the Sunday's final table onlookers were able to see some superb poker action. Finally the heads up play was between Cortellino and poker pro James Van Alstyne. Eventually Cortellino won the battle, and pocketed $200,860 for his first place. Van Alstyne earned $105,788 for his second place finish, and Frank Lupo took home $54,600 for the third place in the event.
